Privacy and cookies policy
This policy explains what information is collected when you use norfolknorwich.com ("the site", "we", "us"), why, and the choices you have. We aim to collect as little as possible.
Who we are
norfolknorwich.com is an independent visitor guide to Norfolk and Norwich. For any privacy question, contact us at contact@norfolk-norwich.com or through our contact page.
Information we collect
You can use the whole site without creating an account or giving us your name or email address. We do not run sign-up forms, and the site search works entirely inside your browser, so your searches are not sent to us. If you email us, we use your message and email address only to reply, and we delete correspondence when it is no longer needed.
Like almost every website, the servers that host the site keep short-term technical logs (such as IP address, browser type, the page requested and the time). These are used to keep the site secure and working and are not used to identify you.
Cookies and browser storage
We do not currently use advertising or analytics cookies. The site stores one small item in your browser’s local storage (named cookie-enable) to remember that you have dismissed the cookie notice. You can clear it at any time in your browser settings.
If we add analytics or advertising in the future, we will update this page and, where the law requires it, ask for your consent first.
Third-party services used on our pages
- Google Fonts – our typefaces are loaded from Google, which receives your IP address so it can deliver the font files.
- Open-Meteo – the live weather panel asks Open-Meteo for the forecast for the place shown on the page. It does not use your own location; the request comes from your browser, so Open-Meteo receives your IP address.
- Google Maps – some village pages show an embedded map, loaded from Google only when you scroll to it.
- YouTube – where a video is embedded, YouTube (Google) may set its own cookies when the video loads.
- Links to other sites – we link to businesses, attractions and booking sites such as Booking.com and Trip.com. Once you leave our site, that site’s own privacy policy applies.
Each of these providers handles data under its own privacy policy. Some may process data outside the UK under appropriate safeguards.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law (the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018) you have the right to ask what personal data we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, and to object to its use. Contact us using the details above and we will respond within one month. If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
Children
The site is a general-audience visitor guide and does not knowingly collect information from children.
Changes to this policy
We will update this page if the way the site works changes, for example if we add analytics or advertising.
